Why we RELAY:
JoCo Democrats have participated in RELAY FOR LIFE as Team 33, Johnston County Democrats, for 21 years. We raise money to assist the American Cancer Society (ACS) in its efforts to eradicate cancer here locally and nationally. There is no doubt, each of our families have been touched in some way by this dreadful disease. We work together to KICK OUT CANCER!
The event this year is scheduled for SATURDAY, May 17, 2025, Smithfield Selma Senior High School at 700 M. Durwood Stephenson Parkway in Smithfield, 1PM until 9PM.
Please come out to the football field / track and visit our JCDP team. Sit with us, walk a lap, talk with old friends, meet new friends AND help us fundraise to beat cancer.
Anyone can make donations on line - Relay for Life Johnston County - Team 33 or alert Cathy to be on the lookout for a check or cash at the Smithfield office OR BRING THE CHECK TO RELAY!
This year, due to Team #33 Captain Cathy McCormick’s (919-609-6774) family commitments, our presence at Relay will be small - bring your chair and look for me near our usual spot to the left of the bleachers! We will pow wow and enjoy the food trucks and views of the luminaries.

4pm - 9pm Food Trucks in Parking Lot
7:30pm Luminaria Ceremony

● 80’s Lap: Put on your 80’s attire
● Crazy Hat Lap: Customize your hat with flair, feathers, or whatever you can find! The craziest hat wins a PRIZE!
● 80’s Music BINGO Lap…Yes, there will be PRIZES!
● College Pride Lap: Show your spirit and wear your favorite college’s attire
● Picket Lap: Make a Picket sign ‘AGAINST CANCER’ and join us as we FIGHT BACK against cancer! The Best sign wins a PRIZE!
